Short answer
To tell if an iPhone has replaced parts, open Settings > General > About and look for Parts and Service History. On recent iPhones it lists a replaced screen, battery or camera and says whether each is a "Genuine Apple Part" or an "Unknown Part".
What the labels mean
| Label | What Apple says it means |
|---|---|
| Genuine Apple Part | The repair used genuine Apple parts and processes. |
| Unknown Part | The part isn't a genuine Apple part, isn't working as expected, wasn't verified after the repair, or has been modified or can't be verified. |
Which iPhones show it
Parts and Service History needs iOS 15.2 or later and appears on iPhone XR, XS and XS Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later, iPhone 11 and later. Which parts it tracks depends on the model.
Other signs
- Screen: Apple says a non-genuine display can lose True Tone, show colours that are too yellow or blue, have uneven or lower brightness, or dim and brighten wrongly.
- Face ID or Touch ID: try to set it up. If it won't enrol, it isn't working.
What we sell
- Premium and Excellent phones have original screens and show no third-party-part messages.
- Batteries are original; if a battery needed replacing during refurbishment, it was replaced with a genuine one.
- Value phones use aftermarket parts and name it in the grade, for example "Aftermarket message" (a non-original part shows a message in Settings).
