Short answer
When your refurbished iPhone arrives, check six things in about ten minutes: it starts at the Hello screen, the battery health matches the listing, Parts and Service History looks right, it's unlocked, every camera, button and speaker works, and it looks like its grade. If anything is off, you have 30 days to return it for a full refund.
The six checks
- It starts at the Hello screen. Set-up should ask for your Apple Account, nobody else's. If it says "iPhone Locked to Owner" or asks for someone else's password, contact the seller.
- Battery health matches the listing. Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Maximum Capacity should be in the band you bought (90%+, 85-90% or 80-85%).
- Parts and Service History looks right. Settings > General > About. On recent iPhones it lists replaced parts and whether they're genuine.
- It's unlocked. Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say "No SIM restrictions". Then put in your SIM or set up your eSIM and make a call.
- Everything works. Set up Face ID or Touch ID, take a photo with each camera, record a short video, play audio through the speaker, make a call on speaker, try every button and charge it.
- It looks like its grade. Excellent should look close to new at arm's length; Good has light micro-scratches; Fair shows normal wear.
In the box
A phone from us comes with a charging cable, in recycled packaging. There's no wall plug or earbuds. If you added a case or screen protector, it's in the box (the screen protector is fitted before it ships).
If something isn't right
Text or call us on 650-394-7310, 8am to 11pm Pacific, 7 days a week. Within 30 days of delivery you can return it for a full refund with a prepaid FedEx label: start a return. After that, the 12-month warranty covers faults.
